Toby Younis is a content creator, researcher, and longtime member of the modern treasure-hunting community. He is the host of the YouTube channel A Gypsy’s Kiss, which gained recognition during the Forrest Fenn treasure hunt and now analyzes contemporary hunts such as Jon Collins-Black’s There’s Treasure Inside and Justin Posey’s Beyond the Map’s Edge.
Rather than actively competing in hunts, Toby focuses on studying the design, strategy, and community surrounding modern treasure hunts. Through interviews, livestream discussions, and analytical videos, he explores how clues are constructed, how searchers approach solving them, and how these hunts shape a growing culture of collaborative problem-solving.
A retired filmmaker and photographer, Toby lives in South Carolina with his wife Shelley and continues to document and analyze the evolving world of modern treasure hunts.
Sometimes we just love the puzzle design, illustrations, or story in a hunt, whether we participated in it or not. Here are my ranked favorites.
